Presentation on assessing and monitoring Protected Areas with the Digital Observatory for Protected Areas (DOPA)

This presentation emphasises the need for a i) global reference information system to support decision making; ii) integrated information taking into account species, ecosystems, pressures, funding which need to be available at Country, Ecoregion and Protected Areas level. It also advocates the need for free, open access services to develop web based tool for different end-users.

The presentation explains the features of the Digital Observatory for Protected Areas (DOPA) - a set of web services and applications used primarily to asses, monitor, report and possibly forecast the state of and the pressure on protected areas at multiple scales.

It was present during Week 8 of the CBD-UNDP-IFDD-PRCM e-course on 'Protected Area Systems: Management and Design' held from 1 June to 26 July 2016.
