Featuring Nathalie Doswald (PhD)
The event will be live streamed at the World Bank, Washington DC
The EBA event follows an online Q&A “Climate proof your land: Capacity building to the UNCCD”; both events are open to public participation.
This year’s World Day to Combat Desertification (WDCD) on 17 June is based around the theme of ecosystem-based adaptation. With the slogan ‘Land Belongs to the Future, Let’s Climate Proof It’, the 2014 WDCD highlights the benefits of mainstreaming sustainable land management policies and practices into our collective response to climate change.
While this is an important topic, EBA remains little-understood; even those working on biodiversity, climate change or related linked topics may not fully appreciate the potential or practice of EBA.
The online EBA event - brought to you by the CBD secretariat working in partnership with the secretariat of the UN Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) - is an opportunity to find out more. It is held over the break in proceedings of the CBD’s Ad Hoc Open-ended Working Group on Review of Implementation (WGRI) to facilitate participation of CBD delegates.
