Drylands cover more than 41% of the world’s land surface and are home to some of the most unique biodiversity on the planet. They feature high levels of species endemism, comprise many unique ecosystems, and are home to some of the world’s most charismatic species and most treasured natural heritage. Yet while countries are revising their NBSAPs during 2014, there is little special support or networking on drylands issues for NBSAPs, including what kind of targets are appropriate for dryland biodiversity.
Is this an issue of interest to you and your country? What kind of resources or support would be most helpful here? Do you have any anecdotes or cases related to this to mention? Are any of your targets specific to drylands biodiversity that you can share with other drylands countries?
Over the coming weeks, on behalf of the CBD secretariat, myself and colleagues will be sharing resources and ideas on this topic, and aiming to respond to any questions that are raised, or opportunities presented.
Join the discussion! We look forward to hearing from you!
