E-Learning Modules

The NBSAP Forum provides free, web-based learning opportunities that build your professional capacity to develop and implement NBSAPs. We offer over 30 free, self-paced online courses on the Aichi Biodiversity Targets and elements of the NBSAP and 6NR revision and implementation processes. At the end of each course, you will receive a certificate of completion. You can take our courses when and where you like with minimum disruptions in your busy working schedule. Aimed at protected area practitioners and managers who are primarily working with protected area systems. By taking this facilitated course, participants will gain an overview of key issues related to the design and management of protected area systems.

Covers aspects related to governance, equity and benefit sharing (PoWPA Goal 2.1), including best practices for promoting innovative forms of governance. It will take you approximately 2 hours to complete this course.

Includes 19 concise learning modules that are focused on each goal of the Programme of Work on Protected Areas. 

Includes six modules focused on the fundamentals of using GIS for conservation purposes. Each course includes enhanced learning components, ranging from podcasts to web-based trainings. The courses highlights ArcGIS 10 and ArcGIS 9.

Provides easy access to the latest science and strategies for managing coral reefs in a changing climate. The two, self-paced modules explore the climate and coral reef science, case studies, and management strategies included in the online Reef Resilience toolkit.

Teaches you the principles of marine protected area management over 12 modules, with an emphasis on strengthening local capacity and increase access to information across the Coral Triangle. The module was developed by the Coral Triangle Center (CTC).

Provides an introduction to designing the legal framework for a national protected areas system and discusses core principles to account for during the design process, such as marine and transboundary protected areas, and protected area connectivity. It will take you approximately 3 hours to complete this course.

This course explores the rationale and challenges of enhancing synergies among the biodiversity-related conventions. You will also learn how NBSAPs can be used to achieve implementation of the conventions at national and regional levels.
