Presentation: The power to change the Earth system – and personal responsibility?

This presentation describes why and how scientists view our Earth as a system, and what that means for our understanding of global change processes and our capacity to intervene in them. The presenter, Dr. Sarah Cornell of the Stockholm Resilience Centre, describes the distinction between hitting limits and respecting boundaries, reflecting on biophysical processes, societal activities, and the role of knowledge and engagement in navigating sustainable pathways.

Presentation: Applying Resilience Thinking to National Biodiversity Plans - the South African Experience

This presentation described the process of the preparation of the 2015 South Africa NBSAP. It talked about a landscape approach for creating partnerships across landscapes and seascapes to conserve, restore and sustainably use biodiversity, while enabling sustainable economic development, rural development, job creation and livelihoods. At the same time, the document included several strategic objectives that focus on resilience.

Cette présentation décrit le processus de préparation du SPANB en Afrique du Sud 2015, qui applique une approche paysagère pour travailler dans des partenariats terrestres et marins pour conserver, restaurer et utiliser durablement la biodiversité, tout en favorisant un développement économique durable, le développement rural et la création d'emplois, et les moyens de subsistance.

ESTRATEGIA DE MANEJO EN EL CAMBIO CLIMÁTICO: PARQUE NACIONAL CERROS DE AMOTAPE Y RESERVA NACIONAL DE TUMBES

La presente investigación realizada en la parte noroccidental de Perú, tiene como objetivo determinar las amenazas y generar las estrategias de manejo para las dos áreas naturales protegidas en estudio (Parque Nacional Cerros de Amotape, Reserva Nacional de Tumbes) que incorporen el componente del cambio climático,implementando todos los esfuerzos necesarios para que los ecosistemas mantengan su resiliencia y que se haga un esfuerzo pro-activo que contribuya a mantener la “materia
prima” de estos importantes ecosistemas.
