Born in Brazil, studied in Denmark, specialised in International Development and Environmental Planning at University of Roskilde. Working since 2005 in UNDP-GEF (Global Environment Facility), under current position as Senior Technical Adviser for Ecosystems and Biodiversity (EBD). Responsible for developing and supporting UNDP-GEF EBD projects in various countries in Africa ‰ÛÒ a portfolio worth more than $90million in GEF funds, as well as GEF Enabling Activities supported by UNDP in the focal areas of Biodiversity and Land Degradation. Leading in the theme of mainstreaming biodiversity into extractive industries (developed pioneer projects in Mauritania and Nigeria) and developed the first Ecosystem-Based Adaptation financed by the GEF‰Ûªs Least Developed Countries Funds. Previously worked as a consultant in Mozambique, Angola, Brazil and various countries in Africa. Besides English, French and Spanish, also speaks Portuguese and Danish.
