Introductory Course to Convention concerning the Protection of the World Cultural and Natural Heritage

Cultural and natural sites are very diverse, yet they have in common the fact that they constitute, together with many others, a common heritage to be treasured as unique testimonies to an enduring past. Their disappearance would be an irreparable loss for humanity. This course introduces you to the World Heritage Convention, which is one of the most complete international instruments that exist in the field of conservation.

Introductory Course to Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety

This course introduces you to the Cartagena Protocol on Biosafety to the Convention on Biological Diversity. The Protocol seeks to ensure an adequate level of safety in the transfer, handling, and use of living modified organisms (LMOs) resulting from modern biotechnology that may have adverse effects on biological diversity. This e-course is comprised of four lessons. It will take you 90 minutes approximately to complete the course, excluding additional materials. You are required to answer at least 80% of the assessment questions correctly in order to obtain a course certificate.

Farmers´ Rights in the International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture

The International Treaty on Plant Genetic Resources for Food and Agriculture addresses the issue of Farmers’ Rights in Article 9, and in its Preamble. The International Treaty advises Contracting Parties to protect and promote Farmers’ Rights in accordance with national laws. This course examines its origins and treatment in the International Treaty and presents somepractical activities for the realization of Farmers’ Rights. It will take you 3 hours approximately to complete the course, excluding additional reading material.

Convention on the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS) and its Instruments

This course aims to enhance your knowledge regarding the role of the Conservation of Migratory Species of Wild Animals (CMS). The course has five units, beginning with an introduction to the CMS Family; followed by the Institutional Framework and Funding of the CMS; Functions relating to Administration, Finance and Communication;  Meeting of the CMS Family Decision-making Bodies; Implementation; and National Reporting.

Introductory Course to the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC)

International travel and trade are greater than ever before. As people & commodities move around the world, organisms that present risks to plants travel with them.This course introduces you to the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC), an international plant health agreement that aims to protect cultivated and wild plants by preventing the introduction and spread of pests. It will take you around 2 hours to complete the course, excluding additional training materials.

How to overcome the language barrier for non-English speaking 6NR team

In Kyrgyzstan 6NR team consists of 8 hired experts and members of the working group from state institutions, NGOs and academia, almost all of them do not speak English, that is a common challenge for expert society in Kyrgyzstan. UNDP Kyrgyzstan decided to deliver all  6NR learning products and webinars to the 6NR team providing simultaneous translation to Russian. Listening and discussing  7 webinars on 6NR from NBSAP forum took 2 days.
