Presentation: Delivering On Global Biodiversity-Related Agreements: Using NBSAPs To Translate Global Ambition To National Action

Resource Type:
Description:

Week 1 of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) "Introduction to Resilience for Development: Applying Resilience Thinking to National Biodiversity Plans".

Week 1 of the Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) "Introduction to Resilience for Development: Applying Resilience Thinking to National Biodiversity Plans" (23 January through 12 February 2018) featured a presentation by Tristan Tyrrell, SwedBio at Stockholm Resilience Centre.

The Strategic Plan for Biodiversity 2011-2020 has formed a global framework around which most countries have developed or revised NBSAPs. While primarily linked to implementation of the Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD), the Strategic Plan was envisaged as a common approach for all biodiversity-related conventions, and elements have been incorporated into the recent Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Using examples from recently-revised NBSAPs, this presentation explored the extent to which countries have used this common framework approach and how it has translated to effective action towards successful and resilient outcomes.
