The NBSAP Forum provides free, web-based learning opportunities that build your professional capacity to develop and implement NBSAPs. We offer over 30 free, self-paced online courses on the Aichi Biodiversity Targets and elements of the NBSAP and 6NR revision and implementation processes. At the end of each course, you will receive a certificate of completion. You can take our courses when and where you like with minimum disruptions in your busy working schedule. Unmanned Systems (UxS) are transforming how we study and manage the marine environment. This presentation will provide an overview of unmanned aerial systems, unmanned surface vehicles, unmanned underwater vehicles, buoyancy gliders, and remotely operated vehicles. Emphasis will be placed on their contributions to establishing and managing marine protected areas. Webinar co-sponsored by the NOAA National MPA Center, MPA News, and the EBM Tools Network (co-coordinated by OCTO and NatureServe).

Land-use planning frameworks have traditionally focused on developing settlements and related infrastructures with limited consideration of biodiversity conservation and climate adaptation and mitigation requirements. It is underused in maximizing win-win solutions for human well-being and sustainability under the threat of global climate change. Applying Resilience Thinking to National Biodiversity Plans discusses how resilience thinking can be used to help facilitate delivery of the global biodiversity and development agendas. With a focus on national biodiversity plans, the course shows how resilience thinking can inform policymaking, planning, and implementation to deliver on the ABTs and the SDGs. This course builds on the module Understanding Resilience Thinking, which introduces the concept of resilience and shows how resilience assessments can be used to address pressing conservation and development challenges.

You will learn about the key steps for conducting resilience assessments, and how to use these results to develop effective sustainable development and conservation actions.

Sustainable commodity and supply chains (SCSC) play an important role in national economies and development plans. High demands for many commodities is leading to the accelerated destruction of biodiversity, which is resulting in social, economic, and ecological consequences. It is critical for every actor in the supply chain to promote the sustainable production of commodities. This module helps you understand how SCCs support the implementation of NBSAPs.

Sustainable Consumption and Production limits the environmental degradation caused by the production and use of goods and services. The goal of this module is to help you understand the concept of SCP in the context of national conservation and development planning and management processes, such as those associated with NBSAPs and the UN Sustainable Development Goals.

Aimed at protected area practitioners and managers who are primarily working with protected area systems. By taking this facilitated course, participants will gain an overview of key issues related to the design and management of protected area systems.
