Al utilizar el UN Biodiversity Lab y los conjuntos de datos globales disponibles, creamos 18 mapas preliminares de estado de biodiversidad para su país. Los datos dentro de estos mapas pueden ayudarlo a informar sobre indicadores clave relacionados con las Metas de Aichi 5, 11, 12, 14 y 15.

The Government of Seychelles-UNDP-GEF Protected Area Finance and Outer Islands projects hosted a Business Planning workshop for Protected Areas in Seychelles in September 2017. In preparation for this training, a database containing examples of terrestrial and marine business plans from around the world and guidelines for their development was produced. We are sharing in this post the report "Plan de negocios, Área Protegida "Estero Padre Ramos", El Viejo, Chinandega, Nicaragua".

Analyzing Nicaraguan Women’s Roles in Forest Decision-making Processes

Women in Nicaragua’s indigenous territories face substantial obstacles while participating in decision-making processes when it comes to the use of forests and forest resources in their communities. Though national laws and regional policies promote gender equality, forests are still seen primarily as the realm of men. Development/conservation projects on women are rarely concerned with forests. Projects on forests rarely pay attention to women or approach forests from a gender perspective.

Equator Initiative Case Study – Alexander von Humboldt Center

Alexander von Humboldt Center operates in one of the driest regions of Nicaragua and one of the areas most susceptible to hurricanes, severe droughts, and freshwater shortages. The organization provides local communities with training in sustainable water management and has drilled more than 40 freshwater wells and repaired 35 community water systems. The objective is year-round access to clean water using sustainable technology and building on community capacities. The emphasis has been on improving and restoring water systems that have fallen into disrepair.

Equator Initiative Case Study - Farmer-to-Farmer Program (PCAC), Siuna

The Farmer-to-Farmer Program (Programa de Campesino a Campesino - PCaC) has operated throughout Nicaragua since the post-war period of the early 1990s, as part of the worldwide Via Campesina movement which advocates for food sovereignty, agrarian reform, and democratic governance of food production systems.
