Draft Biodiversity Status Maps for Your 6NR – Jordan

At the beginning of the 6NR process, we challenged Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity to double the number of maps used from your 5NR to your 6NR. Are you on track to meet this challenge? We have exciting news for you!  Using the UN Biodiversity Lab, and the global datasets available within it, we created 18 draft biodiversity status maps for your country.

The State of Jordan's Birds 2013

This is a major report on the status of the country’s avifauna, launched by the Royal Society for the Conservation of Nature (RSCN)—BirdLife in Jordan. The publication provides a detailed assessment of current bird populations, the threats they face, and the conservation actions that are being put in place to safeguard them.
It is hoped that this timely report will sound an alarm in the minds of all those concerned for the future of birds and biodiversity in Jordan and help galvanise action to safeguard the country’s outstanding natural heritage.

The National Biodiversity Strategy And Action Plan (2015-2020)- Jordan

The remarkable biodiversity of Jordan is a reflection of its varied physical characteristics which have yielded an unusual case of richness in landforms and biological diversity in terms of landscapes, ecosystems and species. At the intersection of three continents, Jordan encapsulates four bio-geographical regions: Mediterranean, Irano-Turanian, Saharo-Arabian, and the Sudanian Penetration. All four transform into 13 vegetation types which, in turn, embrace over 4,000 species of terrestrial, freshwater, and marine fauna and flora.
