PA Business Plan Catalogue - Financial Planning for the Porto Palermo Marine Protected Area in Albania

The Government of Seychelles-UNDP-GEF Protected Area Finance and Outer Islands projects hosted a Business Planning workshop for Protected Areas in Seychelles in September 2017. In preparation for this training, a database containing examples of terrestrial and marine business plans from around the world and guidelines for their development was produced. We are sharing in this post the Financial Planning for the Porto Palermo Marine Protected Area in Albania report.

At the beginning of the 6NR process, we challenged Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity to double the number of maps used from your 5NR to your 6NR. Are you on track to meet this challenge? We have exciting news for you!  Using the UN Biodiversity Lab, and the global datasets available within it, we created 18 draft biodiversity status maps for your country.

Le besoin d’adaptation aux changements climatiques dans la Zone protégée (Ramsar 1995) entre les estuaires des rivières Shkumbin-Seman et surtout dans la Lagune de Karavasta, dans le cadre d’un développement durable. Cette Lagune constitue l’une des zones les plus humides en Albanie avec une variété d’habitats. Là-bas se trouvent presque tous les principaux types d’habitats tels que: marins/côtiers; ceux de la lagune; des marais; des estuaires des fleuves; des forets et des champs.

Wetlands are key ecosystems, home for a variety of flora and fauna species and particularly important for the biodiversity they represent therefore, safeguarding, protecting and improving the biological diversity is crucial. The nature conservation best practice is focused at a wetland complex in Albania with the status of a National Park, aiming the conservation of the Dalmatian pelican as a flagship species for the park. The Dalmatian pelican is one of the most important bird species present in Albania all year long.
