The Role of Government in Preventing or Enabling Conflict in Mining, Oil and Gas- Webinar Recording and Presentation

We hope you enjoyed our recent sessions of the webinar series on Environmental Governance of the Mining Sector dedicated to The Role of Government in Preventing or Enabling Conflict in Mining, Oil and Gas.

The goal of this webinar was for participants to come away with a better understanding of the root causes, systems and pathways of extractive conflicts, the role and responsibility of government, and how governments can mitigate, prevent and transform conflict associated with mining, oil and gas. We shared findings from a new study on this topic, and examined two cases in Latin America where governments took specific approaches to build stronger institutional capacities to prevent conflict and address systemic causes.

Webinar presentations are attached and the recording for the English webinar is available here: http://bit.ly/2oP4fBR

We invite webinar participants to carry on the webinar discussion in this Forum or on the GOXI Platform, and to read the interview with Diego Armando Ramírez and Nadya Aranguren on “The role of the Colombian government in preventing or enabling conflict in the extractive sector”. http://bit.ly/2G3xI2c

This webinar series was hosted by the NBSAP Forum, the Swedish Environmental Protection Agency, GOXI and UNDP.
